One of our favourite seasons…
Autumn is one of our favourite seasons at Kitchens InStyle and with the days getting shorter and the nights getting longer this can only mean one thing, autumn walks through the New Forest & then back home for cosying up inside with a hot cup of tea and looking forward to some classic English fare!
The kitchen is the heart of your home and it really comes into its own in the winter months, when socialising in the warm and cooking comforting meals are at the top of our to-do list. While your kitchen must, of course, look stunning all year round, we think looking to some wonderful autumn trends is the perfect way to bring a cosy feel to your interior that’s ideal whatever the weather. We’ve put together a selection of our favourite ideas to get you started.
An Autumnal Colour Scheme
Darker colour schemes have been popular with our customers for a couple of years now and it’s easy to see why. A deep shade of cabinetry creates a wonderfully sophisticated and dramatic aesthetic that looks incredibly high-end and stylish in any home. Forest green is a great choice for Autumn 2020, while we often associate reds and oranges with the winter months a deep rich green is a fantastic subtle way to bring warmth to your interior. Alternatively, create a moody and intense atmosphere with a deep plum or navy tone. If you’re worried about overpowering your space, consider opting for a two-tone scheme with a lighter colour on your overhead cabinetry or for a real impact include a dark shade on your walls as well as your units. Dark cabinet colours are a timeless choice and are a wonderful way to add personality to a room. A warming deep green colour scheme is sure to look stunning whatever the season.
Warming Wood Finishes
When we think of autumn our minds jump straight outside to the falling leaves and soon to be bare trees. Introduce this vision of nature to your home by adding wood finishes to your kitchen interior. There are a variety of beautiful options when it comes to including wood in your design allowing you to craft the perfect look to suit your individual taste. At Kitchens InStyle our modern collections are available in stunning wood effect finishes, these are a great way to make a striking contemporary statement whether you include them as your primary cabinet style or as an accent. For a more understated approach consider opting for a timber worktop, pair with a classic shaker or in-frame design for a rustic and welcoming country kitchen feel. A luxurious wooden floor brings warmth to any space modern or traditional and looks remarkably elegant. The natural texture and warming tones of a wood finish are a stunning way to bring a calming and homely atmosphere to your space.
Simple salads take a hit alongside our waistlines as hot drinks, winter warmers and festive bakes dominate our Autumn menus. To make whipping up a hearty meal a doddle, consider updating your kitchen appliances with state-of-the-art smart technologies. With ovens you can control from your phone you can start slow cooking a stew while you’re out for an autumnal hike or have a comforting dinner ready for when you get home from work. Digital controls make it easy to set a timer, get a precise temperature and choose from a range of cooking options. Smart ovens with internal cameras or integrated thermometers allow you to check your food without ever having to get off the sofa and they even clean themselves. For hot drinks at the drop of a hat install a Quooker boiling water tap and gain additional benefit from clutter-free worktops. Smart kitchen appliances can transform the functionality of your space for quick and convenient cooking all year round.
